Reflection

As women, most of the times we forget to reflect and look back to admire our beauty, strength and achievements. And in order to spread love, its important that we love ourselves first. And my client Michelle showcases that with great spirit. She is a professional and successful yogini and most of the time her go-to outfits have been workout attires. She had a couple of family events coming up and had a strict budget to follow. So i came up with two looks that made her feel fresh and trendy.

  1. Brunch Party look – Striped skirt (nordstrom rack) with a solid black blouse is a classic combination but to make it look unique, i picked up a fuzzy dusty rose (nordstrom rack) cover up which played the role of a statement piece and enhanced the entire outfit. Paired it all together with jeweled necklace, earring and a pair of black cowboy boots.

2. The sporty trendy look – Paper bag culottes (nordstrom rack) are trending this fall . So i paired it up with a coral knit top and a pair of white Nike sneakers. Add a long necklace to complete the look. Michelle instantly felt so comfortable and happy in this that it absolutely shows in the photographs. 20181010_010659

Own your style

How many of us actually love what we wear? or wear the outfits that best represent our personality? Its the very basic that we can do to make ourselves feel good and confident, and my client chitrangda epitomizes that beautifully. She is a successful program coordinator at a fitness club, former nutritionist and Yoga practitioner. Keeping her strong & vibrant personality in mind, i picked out two date-night looks for her.

  1. Checks are trending in 2018 and this ruffled green flowy silhouette adds a unique edge to the outfit. I paired it up with nude pink flats , bright green earrings from nordstrom and a peacock teal clutch. The self tie-up at the waist will make you the belle of the backyard garden party this year.

2. This Jora embroidered Peasant dress from Anthropology stole chitra’s heart away. The flowy peasant silhouette and the intricate cobalt blue embroidery on the sleeves, shoulder and hemline catches your eye immediately. Pair it up with minimal accessories and let yourself and the dress be the showstopper for the evening.

‘Less is more’

“Less is more” may be a cliché, but it’s a cliché for a reason. When sleek, simple minimalist style is done right, it can make more of an impact than even the loudest of outfits.

A project manager in the healthcare IT department and a part time Bollywood fitness instructor, my client ‘S’ is a versatile personality. Her style quotient is simple and clean. She does not enjoy wearing flashy or loud pieces and likes to keep it minimal. At our styling session , ‘S’ was looking to bring fresh fall outfits into her wardrobe which she could wear to work. Keeping her minimalist style in mind, i decided to experiment a little and introduce her to the world of prints and stripes.

Look 1 – Racing down on the either sides of formal or athleisure pants, athletic stripes are trending big this fall 2018. I put together a simple and classic outfit here. Red striped 3/4th sleeve basic top along with a semi casual athletic stripe pant from Zara. This simple, trendy yet sporty work-wear look is her favorite go-to outfit at work now.

Look 2 – ‘S’ was not very familiar with prints so i decided to bring that in, with this bright fall-colored printed floral shirt. Paired it up with a classic black trouser and tan boots. This simple, lapel collared printed shirt stands out by itself and blends in perfectly with her persona and style.

Look 3 – This was one of Zara’s unique stand-out prints. Who knew, two hooks interlocked with each other could look this chic and classy. The Flowy round neck silhouette and the padded shoulder yoke & cuffs add freshness to the outfit. And not to miss out the pleasing pastel blue shade clubbed together with a navy trouser and a pair of loafers. Simply effortless!

Bring on the Color

I have always believed that fashion is all about wearing what makes you feel good about yourself.  No age , number or size should hold you back from embracing your style and persona.

My client ‘S’ has spent almost 15 years working in technology. A mother of two beautiful daughters, she is passionate about education and making sure that girls are encouraged to pursue careers in STEM. She is also a certified Bollywood Fitness instructor and loves dancing in her free time.

Keeping her personality and personal style into consideration, i came up with 3 bold, sharp and bright looks for her.

  1. The LBD – She had around two black dresses in her closet, but none of them seemed to really fit her persona or rather she was not able to take the pieces that she loved and coordinate them creatively. After a lot of research, i fit her into this little black faux leather dress from Zara which fit her like a glove. The sleeveless lace trim and the ruffles and V neck added an edge to her style and immediately brought out her personality. We paired the outfit with her animal printed heels(animal prints are big this fall) from Jessica Simpson and a pair of round silver hoops. A perfect date night or girls night out outfit!

2. The Bold Colors – ‘S’ loves bold colors and patterns. Her favorite printed blouse from forever 21 was sitting in her closet for a while and she was wondering how she could pair that up and make it a fun-work look. I clubbed it with a sharp formal grey trouser from Nordstrom(from her wardrobe) . But yet Something was still missing . So i added in a nude pink blazer. The gathered ruffled cuffs added to the fun element that i wanted to bring into this casual fun work outfit along with a pop of yellow in the hoops!

3. Striped Contemporary look – Our third look was more contemporary and trendy. ‘S’ had a stripped skirt in her closet which was waiting to be put together. And since stripes are trending a lot this fall 2018, i decided to pair that up with a black front ruffled pin-tucked blouse from nordstrom(from her closet). For the star statement piece here, i picked up a bold red faux leather jacket from Zara. The flared hem added the fun element here. If you want to be the most attractive person or most attracted person in the room, make sure to bring on those bright bold attractive colors !

Curvy is the new sexy

Sometimes we often wake up and say, ‘oh my gosh! Will I be able to fit into my favorite dress tonight for dinner?’ Or ‘oh she is so lucky that she can eat all that junk food and still look so slim.’ Now all this is a myth. If you embrace and love your body, any outfit is going to look fantastic on you! Being curvy is your asset and you need to use it positively and in your favor.

My client here wanted a few dresses that she could wear to work as well as maybe for date nights. So I styled her in body fitted dresses from H&M and Dex Clothing and made her look chic and stylish. Minimalist is her style and we stuck to that mantra and gave her simple accessories and added a black casual blazer which can be paired up with either of the dresses during work and taken off at the evening dinner.
